This EP was scheduled for September 19, for no particular reason, just as a good internet day to spread a release. The email was scheduled and sent almost at the same time that the earthquake in México City happened.
Email was sent and the tragedy was going on, we decided to wait to spread any more information about it until the situation in was less alarming. Unfortunately this tragedy is not close to be over, but the record is out and some media are talking about it already.
The following is the original description I wrote:
"This EP incorporates abstractions of nature, rhythm y Ho'oponopono, a Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness, that is so necessary nowadays in our daily life and, of course, in the dance floor. Made with love for our sweet fans <3 Enjoy!"
I decided to complement this with some more words, to explain better what this record is about:
I, Jessica Smurphy, have lived with chronic pain and arthritis for several years now. It's been a degrading process of losing mobility and strength. It's also been a process of learning and discovering alternatives in order to heal the pain. My latest records are all inspired in this processes and knowledge that I have been collecting through this path, and this latest one was specially designed as a "healing record".
Within these years I've learned that this kind of pain is degenerative, not only from patterns of repetition and excess of work - it's degenerative from negative mental patterns of depression and non-acceptance. Ho'oponopono is one alternative I have learned and applied to heal my dis-eases. (I invite you to investigate about it if you feel identified with this situation).
But the reason I made this album incorporating the statements "Sorry, Please forgive me, thank you, I love you" is to bring this healing technique to the context of club music. Just to explain it quickly, these statements are perceived subconsciously and they do the job of deleting negative emotions from the past.
All people of my generation are experiencing a lot of social pressure and lots of anger for different reasons like dirty politics, gender violence, racism, and so on. There's lots of hate and anger around us. I made this EP as a little contribution to heal that pressure that we all carry on our backs.
And now that this tragedy has happened in my City, I just wanna explain this better and show my respect for the situation and share a message of love for people through my music.
